His only blog site that I am familiar with is Villa Testa, and that's mostly family pics. Cute kids.
[Wisdom] has sent out her maids, and she calls from the highest point of the city (Proverbs 9:3).
I love the way that Ol' Lady Wisdom is a go-getter. She's not a pushover. She's not passive. She's not even passive-aggressive -- idly sitting by while foolish people make their mistakes, so she can be there to smirk and taunt and say, "I told you so." Lady Wisdom is active. She's raising a ruckus. She's sending out emissaries. She's preparing (and executing) an elaborate PR campaign, aggressively pursuing the Average Joe.
Of course wisdom must be embraced before it can be effective. And while wisdom is definitely something worth searching for -- questing for -- it's also reassuring to see that we shouldn't have to search so hard for it before we start reaping at least some benefits.
In reading through Proverbs 9:3 this time around, I found myself particularly intrigued to think about Wisdom's maids. I mean, what are these messengers, really? How do they go about delivering their invitations? Yes, I realize that Proverbs 9 is meant to be somewhat figurative and metaphorical. There's a danger in taking the minutiae of the metaphors too far... But still, it's interesting to wonder: If Wisdom had maids / messengers, what would they be and how would they work? Could they be something like Logic? Nature? Emotions? Reason? Literature? Government? Morality? Parenting? I think you could probably make a case for any (or all) of these possibilities, simply based on the rest of the Proverbs. All of these things can lead us to wisdom -- to God.
But what do you think? Which emissaries of wisdom have you observed in your own life? In which ways have you found that Wisdom has wooed you?
